Brazil 3-0 Haiti: Cunha Double and Vinícius Strike Send Seleção Top of Group C

Matheus Cunha scored twice and Vinícius Júnior added a third before half-time as Brazil routed Haiti in Philadelphia, a result that leaves the Caribbean side unable to reach the knockout rounds.

Brazil cruised to a 3-0 win over Haiti at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Friday, with Matheus Cunha scoring twice and Vinícius Júnior adding a third before half-time to move the five-time champions to the top of Group C. The result confirmed Haiti as the first team eliminated from contention at this World Cup, unable to reach the automatic qualification places or the eight best third-placed spots regardless of their final group fixture.

Cunha opened the scoring by reacting quickest to a loose ball in the area after Vinícius Júnior's initial effort was parried, tapping home from close range. He doubled Brazil's lead soon after with a clinical left-footed finish into the top corner, a display that strengthens his case for a regular starting role in Carlo Ancelotti's attack.

Vinícius Júnior put the result beyond doubt before the interval, exploiting space behind Haiti's high defensive line to slot a calm finish past the goalkeeper for Brazil's third. The second half passed with little additional incident, as Brazil were content to protect a comfortable lead rather than press for more goals.

The win follows a 1-1 draw with Morocco in Brazil's opening match and lifts them above the Atlas Lions to the top of Group C on goal difference, with one round of group fixtures still to play. For Haiti, playing in their first World Cup since 1974, Friday's defeat leaves them with nothing left to play for beyond pride in their remaining match.

Brazil's selection picture looks healthier than it did a week ago. With Cunha now pushing for a starting berth alongside Vinícius, Ancelotti has attacking options to rotate as the group stage draws to a close and the knockout rounds approach.
